Skills

I keep my stack small: a single harness, a library of skills I’ve written or borrowed, a few design tools wired in. My agent workflows focus on a technical design workflow built for someone who judges by looking and exploring.

A working practice for building whole products, where product, design, content and engineering are one practice, written as Claude skills.

The loop

  1. 01Grill visuallyidea · researchEvery open decision becomes a drawing: layouts side by side, scope as a ladder. I pick, annotate, or accept a recommendation. A vague option can't hide in a picture.
  2. 02PrototypeprototypeExplore in whatever medium fits the question, a throwaway route in the repo or a design tool. Type, colour and tokens get set here and encoded in the skills, so the agent builds inside my taste.
  3. 03Spec and slicePRD · ticketsThe winning prototype becomes a PRD of what people will see and do, then issues sized for one session each.
  4. 04Build roughexecutionThe agent works through the tickets end to end. When they're well defined, it runs away from the keyboard.
  5. 05ReviewQAGenerated UI is checked against the review skills, then against real people. What I find becomes new tickets.
  6. 06Codifybeyond the phasesA prompt written twice becomes a skill, and the process gets written up as a build diary. This is how the loop gets better each time.

The skills

Foundation

design-loopsthe shared rules every other skill reads first

Start and reflect

design-initalso /catch-me-upsets a new product up, or reports, without changing anything, where an existing one's model, patterns, copy rules and goals have gaps or have drifted
product-retroa retro on a piece of work, in both loops
holistic-retrolooks across every retro and project

The product loop

product-mapone card per glossary term, design side and code side, and the map drawn from them
exploreone question, several directions, converge
walkthroughwalks a real task through the product, as placeholder screens before building or on the real app after
system-checkalso /zoom-outchecks the whole product as one system and re-decides rules instead of adding exceptions

Delight

product-delightplans or audits where a product delights; its levers performance and haptics have skills of their own

Instruments

grill-me-visuallyasks you about a plan or design through a page where every choice is drawn, not described
get-feedbackadds a floating review checklist to a prototype or mock before it goes out for review, sign-off or testing
results-postturns a test, an eval or a milestone into a report you can read in one sitting

Improving skills

design-skill-evalruns the old and new versions of a skill on the same test products, grades them, and shows the comparison

Research

ux-pattern-auditan interactive audit of a product category's UX patterns, with working mini-prototypes and a vision prototype
